Marion Soil & Water Conservation District
The Marion SWCD has a strong commitment to providing natural resource education opportunities for all residents of Marion County, from school aged children to adults. We accomplish this by providing grants, in-school education programs, resources for educators and hosting workshops.
Education
CLEAR Grant
The Marion SWCD Conservation Learning Education and Resources (CLEAR) Grant advances the mission of the District by providing funding to other organizations for the support of conservation education and community events that promote natural resource conservation.
Envirothon
Envirothon is an exciting, fun way for high school-aged students to get engaged and learn about the environment through hands-on field experiences that demonstrates their knowledge of natural resources. It occurs once a year and all high schools in the State are encouraged to participate.
Educational Programs
Marion SWCD offers a variety of educational programs that serve the "K through Grey" constituents. We host school education programs and field trips for all grades with a focus on natural resource subjects for middle and high school students. We also work with elementary schools to support and instruct at outdoor schools.
Teacher / Student Resources
We have provided a compilation of natural resource information that may be useful to both teachers and students. They provide a variety of ecological principles and technical information that you might find useful. They consist of fact sheets, ecology manuals, tech notes and instructions for the use of resource monitoring equipment.
