Stream Flow Program

In May 2008 the Marion SWCD had establishment five gauging stations in Marion County that continuously monitors stage or gauge height, water temperature, and discharge. Of the five gauging stations, three; Lower Abiqua Creek, Lower Drift Creek, and the Upper Pudding River at Selah Springs have never been monitored for stage, discharge, or water temperature on a continuous basis prior to 2008. While Silver Creek at Silverton (#14200300) and Butte Creek at Monitor (#14201300), were previously monitored by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) until being discontinued in the late seventy's and mid-eighties. All of the stream flow data for these 5 stations can be acquired by contacting the Marion SWCD's

The continuous gathering of stream flow data has provided the District and others with the necessary streamflow data for making current and future decisions about potential water quality and water quantity impacts that surface water will have on residents, the watershed, and restoration efforts needed to mitigate these affects. Our streamflow program also provides a means for residents to learn more about the watersheds in Marion County while providing a valuable service to environmental consultants, the State of Oregon Departments of Agriculture, Water Resources, the Department of Environmental Quality, OSU, USGS, Marion County, City of Silverton, and others. In addition, all of the streams Marion SWCD monitors are considered essential salmon habitat by NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service.

Real-Time Stream Data Website

You can visit four of the District's five gauging stations by logging onto the remote monitoring website. Here you are able to view the most current water temperatures and gauge height (stage level) readings and then download this data. To log onto the District's streamflow station website go to the McCrometer Website and then enter the following: Username: marion and then the Password: guest.

When the web page appears, log-in using the username and password listed above. Once inside the website use the drop down menu below the large blank window to select the station you wish to see for either water level (gauge height) or water temperature, then click the "add sensor" button to draw graph. You can also select the period you wish to see and then export/download the streamflow data as an Excel file by selecting "Export to Excel."

Note, the data you download from the McCrometer web page is raw or unprocessed data. For more information about the data, see our Stream Data disclaimer.
