Fire on the Horizon Workshop: Planning for Post-Fire Forest Recovery Before Wildfire Strikes

June 30 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

Forest with mixed conifer trees.

Fire on the Horizon: Planning for Post-Fire Recovery Before Wildfire Strikes is a free workshop designed for woodland owners and natural resource professionals focused on preparing for recovery before a wildfire occurs.

This workshop is a collaborative effort hosted by OSU Extension, the North Santiam Watershed Council, and Marion Soil and Water Conservation District.

Participants will take part in a combination of indoor presentations and discussion, followed by field tours of post-fire recovery sites. The workshop will cover wildfire risk assessment, developing and implementing woodland management plans, post-fire restoration practices, and sources of technical and financial assistance. Attendees will also hear from landowners and practitioners who share lessons learned from the 2020 wildfires and provide real-world insight into preparing for future fire events.

This hands-on experience is designed to help participants strengthen long-term resilience by planning ahead for post-fire recovery and connecting with local conservation and fire recovery partners.

Please note: this event includes both indoor sessions and field travel between sites. Participants should bring their own lunch, dress for weather conditions, wear sturdy walking shoes or boots, and be prepared to carpool.

Free. Registration required. Register HERE.
