SUMMARY:First Friday: Salem's Drinking Water - Source to Sink
DESCRIPTION:Please join Nenette Sequeira\, Water Education Instructor with the City of Salem\, for an engaging look at Salem’s drinking water system — past and present. This presentation will explore the history of Salem’s drinking water\, where our water originates\, how water becomes polluted\, and the treatment processes used to ensure clean\, safe water reaches homes and businesses throughout the community. \nFrom watershed to faucet\, attendees will gain a better understanding of the journey water takes before it reaches our taps and the important role water treatment and stewardship play in protecting this essential resource. \nSpeaker Bio:\nNenette Sequira has lived and taught in Salem since 1994. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and French\, along with a Master’s degree in Literacy Instruction\, and brings more than 20 years of experience teaching elementary and middle school students. She also spent two years in China teaching conversational English to post-graduate and college students. \nAlthough Nenette began college as a Marine Biology major\, she discovered her passion for education while teaching swimming lessons during high school and college.
