This family-friendly event invites visitors of all ages to explore local art\, enjoy live performances\, connect with community organizations\, and discover the natural beauty of the park. \nThe festival features 50 local artists and authors\, multicultural music and dance on two stages\, food vendors\, and hands-on activities focused on the plants and wildlife of the Willamette Valley. Visitors can also explore 7-acres of Englewood Park’s mature Douglas fir and Oregon white oak trees\, native pollinator garden\, playgrounds\, splash pad\, and other park amenities. \nMarion Soil and Water Conservation District will be onsite as a community partner sharing information and resources. SUMMARY:Native Wildflower Seed Packaging Volunteer Event 
DESCRIPTION:Join Marion Soil and Water Conservation District for a hands-on volunteer event helping package native wildflower seeds for free community giveaways! \n\n\nVolunteers will help prepare packets of Willamette Valley Native Annual Wildflower Mix seeds\, produced by Heritage Seedlings\, that will be shared with community members to support native plants\, pollinators\, birds\, and healthy habitats throughout Marion County. \n\n\nNo experience is needed—just bring your willingness to help! Volunteers will learn more about the importance of native plants and have the opportunity to take home native seeds as a thank-you for participating. \n\n\nThe wildflower mix includes a variety of native annual species that provide nectar and pollen for native bees\, butterflies\, beetles\, flies\, and other beneficial insects; several species also support birds and wildlife. DESCRIPTION:Marion Soil and Water Conservation District (Marion SWCD) is offering FREE Little Habitat Project (LHP) Community Kits to help community spaces create pockets of native habitat that support pollinators\, wildlife\, and healthy ecosystems throughout Marion County. \nThrough the LHP Community Kit giveaway\, Marion SWCD is working to expand habitat connections by providing native plants for community sites interested in establishing or enhancing native plant areas. These kits offer an opportunity to add biodiversity\, support local wildlife\, and help connect people and places through conservation. \nWho Can Participate:\nThe Little Habitat Project\, is open to anyone in Marion County. However\, this year’s Community Kits are intended specifically for community sites and shared spaces that can create habitat connections for people and wildlife. SUMMARY:Salmon Watch Volunteer Training
DESCRIPTION:Do you enjoy teaching kids outdoors? Then Salmon Watch could be a great fit for you! \nWe are seeking volunteers who are kind\, patient\, and excited to work with kids. No teaching experience is required. \nCan’t attend on 8/26 but still interested? Reach out to Kassi at Kassi.Roosth@marionswcd.net and she can share alternative options. \nSign Up to Volunteer for Salmon Watch! \nSalmon Watch is a place-based\, experiential field trip program that introduces students to local watersheds and the salmon that inhabit them. We offer these trips to elementary through high school -aged students. \nField trips will take place from September 14 through October 2 and last approximately 4 hours each. Start and end times are approximate\, and more detailed scheduling information will be provided as the field trips draw closer. \nField trips are held at these locations: \n\nPacksaddle County Park\nNorth Santiam County Park\nSpongs Landing County Park\n\nVolunteers are essential to Salmon Watch! Each volunteer leads one of these field stations: \n\nSalmon Biology: Help students understand what they are seeing as the salmon build redds and fight for position\, discuss the salmon life cycle\, perform a fish dissection\, and help students understand salmon’s cultural importance.\nMacroinvertebrates: Students wade into the river to explore and collect these marvelous indicators of water quality.\nWater Quality: Share the wonder of science with these tests – use tools and chemistry to test dissolved oxygen\, pH\, temperature\, and turbidity.\nRiparian Ecology: This station has a lot of room for you to make it your own as you introduce students to the connections between healthy riparian areas and healthy in-stream habitats.\n\nAttend this half-day training to help you prepare for your Salmon Watch.
