SUMMARY:Conservation Spotlight: Meet the Farmers!
DESCRIPTION:Nottinghamshire Farms was established in 2018 by Anthony and Amanda Stevens.  They named their farm after Nottinghamshire county\, which was where Anthony was born in England (Robin Hood County) and also where they were married. Amanda was born and raised in Saint Paul\, Oregon. \nAnthony and Amanda met in New Zealand while working on farms and travelling after graduating from University. They got married in England and lived there for 4 years before coming to Oregon to farm on Amanda’s family farm before starting Nottinghamshire Farms. \nNottinghamshire Farms aims to supply top quality organic fruits and vegetables to the local area. \nThe Conservation Spotlight is a radio segment shining light on partnerships and programs for natural resources that airs on the third Wednesday of every month at 8 am as part of the weekly Willamette Wake Up radio program on KMUZ 100.7 and 88.5 FM. Marion SWCD shares the Spotlight with Polk SWCD. \n

SUMMARY:First Friday: Responsible Pesticide Use
DESCRIPTION:Join Cesar Zamora\, soil scientist and Agriculture Conservation Planner for the Marion SWCD\, as he gives a crash course on at home pesticide spraying. You will learn all about the various resources available to help you make informed decisions regarding your pest management strategies and the considerations you should have in mind when you plan to tackle a garden garden/yard pest. This webinar will guide you through the before\, during\, and after of at home pesticide control with a real-world example to tie it all together. \nAs part of his work with Marion SWCD\, Cesar used to facilitate the Pudding River Pesticide Stewardship Partnership (PRPSP) program for ODA. The Pesticide Stewardship Partnership is a statewide program that aims to limit offsite pesticide movements through water quality monitoring and meaningful local specific outreach. The PRPSP was recently handed over to the Pudding River Watershed Council this past July. \nCesar moved to Oregon in 2014 to pursue an undergraduate degree in Microbiology at Oregon State University. After working for the USDA he earned his Master’s degree in Soil Science. During this time\, he quickly fell in love with Oregon\, particularly the Willamette valley\, and decided to make this place his home. His love for conservation stems from his appreciation of the outdoors\, and the joy outside recreation provides. \nYou can watch now on YouTube\nAmy Zimmer (503.949.4709).
