DESCRIPTION:Learn to Paddle (formerly Learn to Kayak) is a free beginner-friendly paddling workshop designed for adults who want to build confidence on the water and learn the fundamentals of kayaking and paddleboarding. \nParticipants will start with an onshore lesson covering equipment\, water safety\, permits\, and paddling techniques before heading out onto the river with a professional instructor to practice their new skills. Whether you’re completely new to paddling or looking to refresh your skills\, this hands-on class provides a fun and supportive introduction to recreating safely on the water. \nKayaks\, paddleboards\, paddles\, and lifejackets/personal flotation devices (PFDs) will be provided. Participants should come prepared to get in the water\, have fun\, and enjoy a day on the river! \nThis event is open to adults ages 18 and older. \nRegistration is required\, space is limited\, and all participants must complete required waivers before participating on the water. \n*NOTE: If the registration is full and you are interested in attending this event\, please contact Stacey Perry at PerryS@KeizerOR.gov to get added to the waitlist. DESCRIPTION:Learn to Fish is a free community event that brings together families\, environmental organizations\, local governments\, and other community partners to promote enjoyment and stewardship of the Willamette River! \nSix fishing skill stations will be set up to teach families the basic introductory skills needed to fish for trout and warm water species. Stations include: casting\, knot-tying & rigging\, water safety\, fish ID & anatomy\, stewardship\, and aquatic habitats. \nThe Learn to Fish event begins at 9:00am at Keizer Rapids Park in the grassy area east of the boat ramp parking lot and will end at 11:30am. Complete a passport for the opportunity to win a door prize! \n***Please note: we will not be fishing as this is a skill building event.
