Cowpea

Cowpea is an annual legume widely cultivated for its edible seeds, forage, and soil-improving properties. Originating in Africa but now grown globally, it thrives in warm, dry climates where other legumes may fail, thanks to its high drought tolerance and nitrogen-fixing ability. The plant produces trifoliate leaves and slender pods containing protein-rich seeds that are an important food source in many regions. This plant does not tolerate frost, making it a good summer season rotational crop.
