Western Serviceberry

Western serviceberry is a deciduous shrub or small tree native to prairies, woodlands, and riparian areas across western North America. It typically grows 6–20 feet tall, with oval, finely toothed leaves and clusters of showy white flowers that bloom in early spring before the foliage fully develops. By summer, it produces small, purple-black blueberry-like berries that are sweet and nutritious, serving as an important food source for birds, mammals, and people.
