Western Trillium

Size: Small Container

Trillium ovatum

Western trillium is a perennial wildflower native to moist forests, streambanks, and shaded slopes of western North America. It emerges in early spring with a whorl of three broad, ovate leaves topped by a single, large white flower on a stalk that gradually fades to pink or purple as it ages. Blooming from March to May, it provides an important early nectar and pollen source for native pollinators. Ecologically, Western trillium contributes to the diversity and beauty of forest understories and is a hallmark species of Pacific Northwest spring wildflower communities. Its slow growth and sensitivity to disturbance make it vulnerable to overharvesting and habitat loss.
