Join Marion SWCD for a tour of oak woodlands and prairie habitats being actively managed in the mid-Willamette Valley. We’ll visit three sites: the Gaia oak wetland/woodland conservation lot managed by the City of Salem, an MSWCD grant recipient’s private oak restoration project in Mt Angel, and Champoeg State Park. Presenters include City of Salem staff, Kurt Berning, Institute for Applied Ecology, and Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde.

Topics covered:

  • oak wetland/woodland restoration
  • oak establishment
  • oak restoration challenges and lessons learned
  • management of oak restoration projects
  • prairie ecology
  • oak restoration partnerships

Attendance is limited due to parking restrictions. Logistics will be sent via email when you RSVP. We’ll have lunch at the third site before the final presentation begins.

If you need special accommodations, including translation services, in order to participate, please call the office at 503-391-9927 or email office@marionswcd.net as far in advance as possible.
