Join Colin Park (USDA) and Max Ragozzino, (ODA) for a summary of on-going efforts to use tiny stingless wasps to help control Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). Meet the bio-control ‘agents’, learn how they are produced, how they do their work of finding and controlling EAB infestations, how can you get involved and what will this mean for ash trees near you?

Our co-presenters have worked on this subject for decades and bring with them a great deal of experience and expertise:

Colin Park is a USDA Plant Health Safeguarding Specialist in Oregon and began organizing EAB detection work in the state and overseeing pest bio-control programs in 2007.

Max Ragozzino, ODA, Biocontrol Entomologist close up photo in greenhouse.

Max Ragozzino is the Oregon Department of Agriculture Bio-control Entomologist who manages invasive insect biological control since 2020. He has worked on emerald ash borer bio-control since 2015.

This presentation is part of an Emeral Ash Borer (EAB) series aimed at preparing landowners for the anticipated impacts of the invasive EAB beetle on Oregon’s native ash trees.

Please stay tuned to the Marion SWCD events page for upcoming emerald ash borer virtual presentations and in-person workshops designed to help landowners prepare their property. Upcoming topics include understory preparation, invasive weed control, native planting and propagation demonstrations, and more.

If you have questions about this event or are interested in being a future First Friday presenter, please contact Amy Zimmer, Communications and Outreach Specialist at amy.zimmer@marionswcd.net
