Marion Soil and Water Conservation District’s Little Habitat Kit

The Little Habitat Kit includes 10 native plants, a bag of compost, and a pair of gloves to used to enhance habitat connectivity between sites currently certified in the Little Habitat Project (LHP).

Native Plants Included in the Kit:

  • Oregon geranium
  • Oregon iris
  • Meadow checkermallow
  • Canada Goldenrod
  • Tall Oregon grape
  • Mock orange
  • Red-flowering currant
  • Foothill sedge
  • Showy milkweed
  • Roemer’s fescue
  • (all plants expect the Golden Rod are in 1-gallon containers)

If there are more requests than available kits, applicants will be prioritized based on the following criteria:

  • Proximity to existing LHP sites (connectivity value) and
  • Project readiness (site prepared & maintenance plan).

To apply for a kit, please review the eligibility requirements and complete the kit request form.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Site must be located a maximum of ½ mile from another certified LHP participant.
  • Project must be shovel-ready (e.g., grass removed, weed control implemented).
  • Complete the LH Kit Request Form (see below).
  • Be able to pick up the plants in Stayton on October 10th or 11th 2025
  • Provide a 1-year update (answer a 3-question survey and provide a photo).
