Oregon saxifrage is a perennial herb native to wet meadows, streambanks, and seeps of the Pacific Northwest. It grows from rhizomes and produces basal rosettes of lance-shaped leaves, with tall, slender flowering stalks that bear open clusters of small white flowers in spring to early summer. Favoring consistently moist soils, it often forms part of diverse riparian and wet meadow plant communities. However, it can tolerate dry conditions during the summer when it goes dormant. Ecologically, S. oregana supports early-season pollinators and helps stabilize soils in saturated habitats, making it valuable in both natural ecosystems and restoration plantings. A good plant for irrigated or naturally moist rain gardens.
