Western White Pine

Plant Description

Western white pine is a large, attractive conifer with bluish-green needles up to 4″ in length. This conical tree grows up to 200′ tall and has gray, scaly bark. In our area, it grows best in moist montane forests on the west side of the Cascades. Western white pine wood has many uses and it is the state tree of Idaho.
