November Weed of the Month:
Shiny Geranium (Geranium lucidum)

Shiny geranium (Geranium lucidum) is a low-growing annual with shiny, rounded, lobed leaves growing on delicate red stems. Look for its tiny pink flowers and its ability to thrive in partially shaded areas, roadsides, and other disturbed places.

This invasive plant can form dense patches that crowd out native and other desirable vegetation. Its seeds can also hitch a ride on shoes, making it easy to spread to new areas. Hand-pulling plants before they produce seeds can help manage small infestations. Avoid mowing, which can spread the seeds further.
