Event Series Event Series: City of Salem City Nature Challenge

City of Salem City Nature Challenge

April 26 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 pm

The City Nature Challenge is a four-day worldwide challenge where community members go out and make observations using their cell phone of wild plants and wild animals using the iNaturalist app. These observations go into a large database used by scientists to further their knowledge and research on biodiversity. You can be a citizen scientist by participating in this challenge! Learn more by listening to this radio interview with two of the event planners.

How to Participate

  • Download the iNaturalist app available in the Google Play and Apple app stores. Make an iNaturalist account.
  • Take photos of wild plants and animals during the four days of the challenge. The challenge takes place in April each year.
  • Upload your observations to share with the iNaturalist community.
  • You can make observations on your own during the challenge dates or attend a City of Salem bioblitz event.
