Large-Flowered Collomia

Collomia grandiflora

Plant Description

Large-flowered collomia is a showy annual in the phlox family native to open woodlands, grasslands, and dry slopes of western North America. It bears soft, sticky, glandular leaves and upright stems topped with clusters of salmon to pinkish-orange trumpet-shaped flowers—an unusually warm color palette among native forbs. Blooming in early to mid-summer, it draws a variety of pollinators, particularly native bees and hummingbirds. Its ability to thrive in dry, nutrient-poor soils makes it a resilient species for restoration and low-water garden plantings.
