Erythranthe guttata
Seep monkeyflower is a highly adaptable perennial herb native to a wide range of habitats across western North America, from wetlands and streambanks to seeps, meadows, and even disturbed ground. It is easily recognized by its bright yellow, two-lipped flowers, often spotted with red, which bloom from spring through summer. Growing low to moderately tall, with opposite leaves and sprawling to upright stems, it thrives in moist soils but can tolerate seasonal drying. Ecologically, E. guttata supports pollinators such as bees and hummingbirds and plays a valuable role in wetland and riparian ecosystems, where it helps maintain plant diversity and stabilize soils. It spreads vigorously through rhizomes and/or self seeding. An adorable flowering groundcover in wet to moist areas, it can be aggressive when it’s happy.
