Four-Spot

Clarkia purpurea ssp. quadrivulnera

Plant Description

Four-spot is a native annual wildflower found in prairies, open woodlands, and other sunny, seasonally dry habitats of western Oregon and California. Its delicate pink to lavender flowers have four petals, each typically marked with a distinctive dark purple spot near the base. Blooming in late spring and summer, four-spot provides nectar and pollen for native bees and other pollinators. It grows best in full sun and well-drained soils and readily reseeds where conditions are favorable, making it a useful addition to native meadows, pollinator gardens, and habitat plantings.
