Fragrant Popcornflower

Fragrant popcornflower is a native annual wildflower of western Oregon and Washington that occurs in moist prairies, wet meadows, vernal wetlands, and other seasonally wet open areas. In spring, it produces clusters of small white, five-petaled flowers, often with yellow centers, that give the plant its characteristic “popcornflower” appearance. It grows best in full sun and soils that are moist or saturated during winter and spring but dry considerably by summer. Fragrant popcornflower is particularly well suited to Willamette Valley prairie and seasonal wetland plantings, where it contributes early-season floral resources for native pollinators and can reseed under favorable conditions.
