Oregon Sunshine

Eriophyllum lanatum

Plant Description

Oregon sunshine is a hardy perennial wildflower native to dry slopes, prairies, and open woodlands across western North America. It forms low, mounding clumps of silvery, woolly foliage that help it conserve moisture in hot, arid conditions. In late spring to summer, it produces abundant bright yellow, daisy-like flower heads that provide nectar and pollen for native bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Ecologically, Oregon sunshine is an important species in dry prairie and foothill ecosystems, supporting pollinator networks and adding long-lasting color and resilience to native plant communities and restoration plantings. It is hardy, easy to grow, and is a host plant for painted lady butterflies.
